Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel of Capitol Hill on Dec. 25, 2025.
Tom Lee Malone was born on November 7, 1945, and passed from this life on December 23, 2025.
Tom lived his faith through action, loving others with sincerity, generosity, and a true servant's heart. He leaves behind a legacy marked by kindness, loyalty, and a willingness to help wherever help was needed.
An adventurer at heart, Tom loved taking his Jeep off-road, whether testing the limits of his rig or enjoying scenic trails with friends and fellow members of OK TrailChasers 4WD Club. His Jeep was more than a hobby, it was a tool for service. During winter months, he could often be found driving around to help pull stranded motorists from snow or mud, always ready to assist both friends and strangers alike.
Faith was central to Tom's life. A devoted member of First Southern Baptist of Del City since 1982, he taught Sunday school with joy, eager to share the love of Christ and the freedom he had found through his faith.
In quieter moments, Tom enjoyed watching classic westerns, especially those starring John Wayne, with Tombstone being his favorite movie. He was known for his dry sense of humor and his steady, dependable nature. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident, and there was never any doubt that his wife was the light of his life. Family was the heart of Tom's world. He found joy in simple traditions, hiding Easter eggs for his grandchildren, savoring his wife's fried potatoes, and enjoying the occasional meal at Ken's Steakhouse or The Cheesecake Factory. His favorite trips were the annual journeys to Colorado with his wife, where they explored Jeep trails, admired the beauty of nature, and created cherished memories together.
Professionally, Tom managed a paint store for 30 years, earning the respect and admiration of employees, peers, and customers alike. To him, customers were never just customers, he took genuine care in helping people find exactly what they needed, reflecting the character of the man he was.
Tom was a hard worker, loyal almost to a fault, and always willing to give of himself in both word and deed. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jan Malone; children Steve Malone and wife Michelle, Sheryl Halbert and husband Brian; grandchildren Megan, Jessi and husband Micah, Jared, Madi, Grace Ann, Wyatt, Isaiah, Josiah; great-grandchildren Greyson and Tatum; sisters Cyndi Wood and JoAnn Spradlin; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Tom is preceded by his parents Joseph Malone and Edna Lujan and daughter Kelly Malone.
