Lee Wells Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Dec. 24, 2025.
Lee Ann Wells, age 67, was born on January 15, 1958, and passed peacefully from this life on December 19, 2025. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, creativity, and faith left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Lee Ann was the heart of her home and family. A gifted cook and baker, she showed love through food, always thoughtfully tailoring each dish to the preferences of those she served. Family favorites included Salisbury steak, pumpkin lasagna, brown gravy, and gumbo, though she could truly whip up anything. Her baking followed the rhythm of the seasons, with treats lovingly crafted for each holiday. If someone disliked onions, the potato salad would be onion-free; if another didn't care for nuts, there would be fudge made just for them. Every holiday was special under Lee Ann's care, filled with traditions she created to build memories, Easter egg dying, Halloween pumpkin carving, Christmas ornament making, graham cracker house building, and the legendary Christmas party games known simply as "The Event." Thanksgiving held a special place in her heart, especially for the planning of Black Friday shopping, though the family gatherings and delicious meals were equally cherished.
Creativity flowed through every part of Lee Ann's life. She loved crafting personalized gifts for friends, family, and even the men on job sites, often accompanied by special homemade treats. She found joy in watching her husband, Dale, enthusiastically watch OU football, something that always made her smile and reminded her of their first date at an OU vs. Colorado game. That memorable outing, spent shivering after being assured she wouldn't need a jacket, led to the creation of "Big Bertha," the coat that became a staple for all future games.
Lee Ann also loved being entertained. She delighted in cozy evenings watching the Hallmark Channel, Downton Abbey, and medical dramas, and she fondly remembered shows like Dark Shadows and All My Children. Family Feud remained a favorite through every host change, and she couldn't sleep without The Big Bang Theory playing softly in the background. Her movie tastes ranged from Urban Cowboy-her all-time favorite-to The First Wives Club, A League of Their Own, Dances with Wolves, Troy, Saturday Night Fever, A Star Is Born, and even Step Brothers, though she might not readily admit that last one. She especially treasured movie outings with Dale for the full theater experience, as long as it wasn't 4D.
A proud graduate of Noble High School's Class of 1976, Lee Ann received her diploma from her father, Loyd Green. During her school years, she excelled musically, learning piano, organ, and clarinet. She played clarinet in the high school band, earning numerous medals at competitions, and served as accompanist on piano for tri-state solo and duet competitors. Music remained a constant companion throughout her life, whether she was playing or listening to favorites like the Bellamy Brothers and Paula Abdul. She continued her education at the University of Central Oklahoma and Rose State, earning her Associate Degree, and later attended Moore-Norman Vo-Tech's Nursing Program. Lee Ann worked for 12 years as an LPN, serving individuals and families with care and compassion. However, her most cherished calling was that of "Domestic Engineer." For 47 years, she faithfully served her family in countless roles, from taxi driver to referee, coach, financial advisor, counselor, short-order cook, and laundromat operator for Dale and the five girls. She earned, without question, a lifetime achievement award as the greatest wife and mom a family could have. Lee Ann's outgoing personality and inviting spirit made strangers feel like friends within minutes. She had a rare gift for listening and truly seeing people, often knowing someone's life story within ten minutes of conversation, and sometimes leaving with a new phone number for continued talks. She was a sweetheart through and through, as long as no one honked at her in traffic. Her greatest joys were loving her children, caring for her husband, and spending time with her sister. She lived out her faith daily through acts of kindness and service, dedicating much of her life to Missionary Baptist Church in Noble, where she found deep fulfillment in being the hands and feet of her Lord.
Lee Ann is survived by her loving husband, Augustus Dale Wells; her children Mandy Rappleyea and husband Richard, Amanda Paige, Alicia Jones and husband Dustin, Brittany E. Wells, Autumn Wells; her cherished grandchildren Alyson, Ricky, Ivory, Samuel, Dorothy, and Daquan; her mother Alma Jean Haney; her sister Lisa Michelle Green, brother Lynn Norman Green and wife Leslie and numerous other loving family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Loyd Norman Green.
Lee Ann Wells will be remembered for her boundless love, generous heart, deep faith, and the countless memories she created for those she loved.
