June McKay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs on Mar. 17, 2026.
Deloris "June" (McAdoo) McKay was born February 15, 1941, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Mona (Haynes) McAdoo and Archie Dee McAdoo. She entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Westview Cemetery, with Rev. David Hale officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.

Viewing will be held from 1 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. June's family will be receiving visitors between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.

June was raised to love the Lord and her family, a foundation that shaped her throughout her life. She graduated early from Rush Springs High School in May 1958 and attended Oklahoma Women's College, now the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO), on a basketball scholarship.

On June 18, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Morris Lee McKay, in an outdoor ceremony at her family's farm in Rush Springs, beginning a life together rooted in family and community.

Morris Lee and June moved to Edmond to complete their teaching degrees. Their oldest son, Timothy Lee, was born the following spring, and three years later, Devin Kent joined the family. June graduated in May 1967 from Central State University, now the University of Central Oklahoma. She completed her student teaching at Orvis Risner in the fall of 1966. After graduating, she began her teaching career in Duncan. Morris and June later returned to Edmond, where she taught at Spencer Elementary until the family moved to Marlow in 1974.

June loved teaching children to read and spent her career in first- and second-grade classrooms, where she made a lasting difference in the lives of countless students. She retired as a beloved teacher from Marlow Public Schools after 27 years in the classroom.

As much as she loved her sons, June especially delighted in becoming "Granny" to her five grandchildren. Morris and June faithfully cheered on and supported their grandchildren at every event and activity. One of Granny's most treasured gifts to each grandchild was a collection of memory books filled with pictures and clippings of their activities and accomplishments, reflecting how closely she followed their lives and how proud she was of each one.

So many family memories with June centered around church, school, and celebrating others. She played the piano in church for many years and loved singing hymns until her final days. She found great comfort in reading her Bible and in listening as others read Scripture to her.

June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morris Lee McKay. She was also preceded by her parents and three older brothers, William "Morris" McAdoo, Kenneth McAdoo, and Gayle "Tubby" McAdoo.

She is survived by her sons, Tim McKay and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, and Devin McKay and wife Crissy of Edmond; her grandchildren, Heath McKay and wife Natalie, Ben McKay and wife Kristin, Logan McKay, Tayte Serup and husband Lane, and Annie Haddox and husband Joe; and six great-grandchildren, Remington McKay, Maverick McKay, Kennedy McKay, Jones Haddox, Kellen McKay, and Tallie Haddox.

Her life reflected the faith she held so dear, and her legacy of love, encouragement, and service will continue through the many lives she touched.
