Billy Lee Evans, age 98, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be available to the public from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, Oklahoma with Rev. David Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow, Oklahoma.

Billy was born June 18, 1927 to Earl Joseph Evans and Essie Harris Evans. He had 3 siblings: Ruth, Annabelle, and Raymond. He was raised in Rush Springs, Oklahoma and joined the Navy in June 1945 and was honorably discharged in November 1947 where he was a Sergeant 1st Class and received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He served on the USS Robert K. Huntington. Billy then returned to Rush Springs and finished his high school education.

Billy always loved horses and has ridden many miles and moved many head of cattle for himself and for friends with his fellow cow pokes. He has raised roping horses, barrel horses, cutting horses, and then caught the racing horse fever, but never lost the joy of riding for pleasure. He worked for the Public Service Company of Oklahoma for over 30 years where he retired. He was a member of Southern Baptist Church of Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He loved visiting with his coffee shop friends. He had an infectious smile and always loved company. His little goodbye wave and "I Love You" will be greatly missed.

Billy married Regina Chapman on May 14, 1954 and from that union was born two daughters: Marla and husband Gary Tharp, of Pocasset, Oklahoma and Sharla and husband Mike Bare of Pocasset, Oklahoma. Through that marriage he had 3 grandchildren: Aaron, Alesha, and Kelsey and 6 great-grandchildren. He then married Ann Ellithorp on May 20, 1987 where he added five stepchildren: Julie, Gene, Debbie, Richard, and Penny and their families.

He is preceded in death by his father Earl Evans, mother Essie Evans, sister Ruth Miller, sister Annabelle Evans, brother Raymond Evans, granddaughter Melissa Tharp, and wife Ann Evans.
