Daniel "Dan" Allen Evans, age 74, went to be with his heavenly Father on the morning January 24, 2026, with his wife by his side at his home in
Virginia Beach, Virginia, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on May 21, 1951, in
Marion, Indiana, Dan lived a life filled with passion, creativity, and love, leaving an indelible legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
A devoted husband, father, friend, and mentor, Dan was known for his infectious enthusiasm, which lit up any room he entered. His journey through life was marked by inspiring accomplishments and a genuine zeal for the activities and people he cherished most. A lover of the great outdoors, Dan found serenity in both skiing down snow-capped mountains and riding the waves in the ocean. He absolutely adored the mountains, where he often found peace and inspiration.
Professionally, Dan carved out a distinguished career in television and journalism. He was a visionary in his field, proudly directing and producing the show "Doris Day's Best Friends", and creating numerous training videos for Coastal Training Technology. An alumnus of Norfolk State University, he earned a Master's in Mass Communication, and his work continues to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
Dan was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Norfolk for 45 years, where he developed lifelong friendships and a deep sense of community. His faith and dedication to service fueled his compassionate spirit and generosity, reaching many in need throughout his lifetime.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Phyllis; his beloved in-laws, Bill and Ruth; and his brother-in-law, Robbie. He is survived by Tricia, his wife of 33 cherished years, and the love of his life. Dan is survived by his son, Hunter, and his sister Debbie and her husband Brett. He is also lovingly remembered by brothers-in-law Patrick (Mary), Ricky, and Michael, his goddaughter Melissa, niece Hannah, nephews and godsons Bryant and Ryan, Matthew and Daniel; uncle Sonny; cousin, Michael; family friend Velma, and many extended family members and dear friends, including Shellie, Cindy, Lewis, Susan and David and many others whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Dan's life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel, located at 5033 Rouse Drive,
Virginia Beach, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor a remarkable man who brought warmth, wisdom, and joy into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dan's memory to a charity close to his heart or an organization promoting mountain preservation or ocean health, perfectly embodying his love for nature.
Dan's adventurous spirit, unwavering kindness, and profound love for life will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
