Clyde was a wonderful husband to Sharon Blumenshine Cupples of Peoria, Illinois. The two were married for sixty-three years and had been together since junior high school. Together, they had one child, Clyde Malone Cupples III (Kip). Clyde was also an active leader in the Junior Achievement Company for many years. In 1968, he accepted a job with Keystone Steel and Wire Company, and in 1971, he was promoted to a salesman position, and the family moved to Albemarle, North Carolina. Clyde worked his way up with the company until he had achieved the position of sales manager over the eastern half of the United States. Clyde worked for Keystone for thirty years before retiring. Shortly after his retirement, he was offered a job with C.E. Shepherd Company as a consultant, where he worked for nearly twenty-one years.
Clyde was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. The most important thing in his life was supporting and spending time with them. Clyde had three grandchildren, Claire, Katherine, and Nick. He enjoyed going to all of their cheer competitions, baseball games, and school events. He was very supportive and interested in every part of their lives and enjoyed talking with them about anything they had going on. Some of Clyde’s favorite things to do with the kids were going to eat at Rick’s in Denton, making trips to SouthPark Mall, and going to travel baseball games. Clyde was a devoted Christian leader of the family and was a long-time member of Chandler’s Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife, Sharon Cupples of New London, NC; son, Kip Cupples; grandchildren, Claire, Katherine, and Nick Cupples.
