Clyde James Mathe, Jr. Jr.

Clyde James Mathe, Jr., known affectionately as Clyde to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Born on April 18, 1949, in Chandler, Arizona, Clyde lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. His 76 years were filled with the joy of family, the pride of a career well-spent, and the satisfaction of numerous hobbies and interests that enriched not only his life but also the lives of those around him.

Clyde's journey began as the eldest son of Clyde James Mathe, Sr. and Elizabeth Mathe (Kickenapp). He grew up alongside his brothers, Westley and Gary, and his sisters, Pearl and Laura, in a home where the values of hard work and kindness were deeply instilled. Though his parents and sisters Pearl and Laura preceded him in death, their influence on Clyde's character was evident throughout his life.

After bravely serving his country as an Air Force veteran, Clyde transitioned to a career as a computer specialist in the civil service at Robins Air Force Base. His intelligence and problem-solving skills made him a respected figure in his field, and his contributions to the Air Force community were immeasurable. He carried the same commitment and passion he had for his country into his civilian work, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Clyde's heart was always with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Mathe (Koontz), with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Their blended family included his son Kevin Mathe (Shanna), daughter Jennifer Webb (Tim), son Daren Mathe (Kaity), daughter Zanna Bos, stepdaughter Lynnette Nichols (Kirk), Nicole Burnap (Brian), stepdaughter Shanna Rhodes (Chris), stepdaughter Ashley Blankenship (Emma Grace), and a legacy of 23 grandchildren who will forever remember their grandfather's warmth and guidance.

Clyde lived his beliefs through his actions, showing compassion and understanding to everyone he met. His community knew him as a man who could always be counted on, whether for a helping hand or a word of wisdom.

Clyde's interests were as diverse as they were engaging. An avid HAM and MARS radio enthusiast, he connected with people across the globe, sharing stories and forging friendships. His love for woodworking was evident in the beautiful pieces he created, each a testament to his attention to detail and craftsmanship. Clyde's thirst for knowledge along with his adventurous spirit also found him in the heart of nature, chasing storms and marveling at the power of the weather.

Those who knew Clyde would describe him as handy, intelligent, and loving. He had the rare ability to fix almost anything, a testament to his practical skills and ingenuity. His intelligence was not just technical but also emotional; he understood people and cared deeply for their well-being. Above all, Clyde was loving-a devoted husband, a supportive father, a cherished brother, and a loyal friend.

Clyde James Mathe, Jr.'s legacy is one of love, service, and excellence. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. Clyde's life was a beacon of how to live with purpose and passion, and he will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable spirit.

A service for Clyde will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00am in the Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel, with a visitation being held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow service at Magnolia Park Cemetery. Pastor Jay Lauritsen will officiate the service.
