In the early hours of November 13, 2025, our beloved father, Clyde Francis Soverns, passed from this life to his eternal life, at his home in Los Banos, California.

He was born on February 20, 1936 in, Renovo, Pennsylvania. The last surviving child of Claudie F. Soverns and Nellie G. Long.

After graduating from Renovo High school in 1954, he worked various jobs around Renovo before joining the Pennsylvania National Guard and subsequently the United States Army.

The Army took him to Korea where he met his future wife of 41 years, Chun Ak Shin. Together they built a family and spent their lives devoted to them.

Clyde had a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he was strong in his faith, which allowed him to remain steadfast throughout the challenges of his 89 years.

From the loss of his mother at the age of 10, to leaving his young family behind to serve in the Vietnam War, and eventually the loss of his life partner, and all of his siblings, he believed that the lord had kept him here for a purpose.

Eventually the Army brought the family to Fort Ord, California, and it was there that they settled and made their home. Clyde chose to be completely devoted to Chun, an was able to bring most of her family from Korea to be with her and to prosper, and they did.

After retiring from the Army, he went work for Pebble Beach Security for the next 20 years while also running a flea market business with Chun on the weekends.

Clyde enjoyed fishing with his sons, playing cribbage, attending social events with the local seniors and veterans' organizations in Los Banos where he was also a member of the Salvation Army. He took weekly road trips with his son George, who was his constant companion for the later part of his life. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams on television and then giving a play by play to anyone who would hear it. He was happy to see his grandchildren grow and to attend their activities and sporting events.

Clyde is survived by his two sons, Michael (Rena) Soverns of Salinas, and George Soverns of Los Banos, and one daughter, Mary (Antonio) Santana of Marina. Five grandchildren, Kristina, Daniele, Darren, Nicolas, and Nathan. Four great-grandchildren, Brenden, Ember, Bailey, and Matthew, and numerous nieces and nephews across the country.

He was predeceased by his wife, Chun Ak Soverns, his four sisters, Janet, Shirley, Lois and Sara, and two brothers, Neal and James.

Clyde has entered The Kingdom of Heaven after a life on earth devoted to the care of his family and is now at peace and can rejoice.

Visitation will be held December 5, 2025 at Mission Mortuary Seaside Chapel at 11 AM-12:30 PM followed by graveside service at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Ave, Seaside CA 93955.
