Clyde Spencer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory - Midland on Feb. 11, 2025.
Clyde Franklin Spencer, 70, of Odessa was called to be with the Lord on February 10th, 2025. Clyde was born on January 5th, 1955, in Anadarko, Oklahoma to the late Byron and Betty (Settle) Spencer. Clyde grew up in Cyril, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cyril High School in 1973. After graduation he went to work for Dolese before beginning his career in oil & gas with Devon Energy where he retired in 2016.
Clyde married his high school sweetheart Janet Sue (Hand) Dudley on August 23rd, 1974. They moved to Cement, Oklahoma in 1975 where Clyde proudly served as the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. Together they had 2 children Sara LaShawn and Nathan Ryan and shared 29 years of marriage. In 1991 the family moved to Texas and he would come to call the Midland Odessa area home. On November 11th, 2005, he married his now ex-wife Michelle (Weeks) Spencer and embraced her two children Holden Weeks and Kendra Atkins as his own. In 2015, Clyde began a relationship with his longtime friend Paula Weir, where they remained friends until his passing.
Clyde's quick wit, work ethic and passion for life was evident in his political banter, Longhorn jabs, dedication to his word and his ability to overcome disability with a can-do attitude. A fabulous cook and friend to many, Clyde spent countless weekends cooking for friends, first responders and wounded veterans at The Granite Ranch, his home away from home. He took much pride in using his love for hunting and his knowledge of wildlife to teach and guide countless hunters at the ranch. A leftie, dog lover, talented athlete, life-long Sooner fan Clyde also had a unique gift for water witching.
Clyde is survived by his daughter, Sara Spencer Kinoti (Dennis), along with their children, London and Grant Kinoti, of Cedar Park; daughter-in-love Latisha Novak Spencer, and children, Fisher and Easton, of Midland; his stepdaughter Kendra Atkins (Josh Farrill), and their children, Brooklyn and Kenzlyn Farrill, of Odessa; his stepson Holden Weeks of Frisco; his sister, Donna Spencer Self, of Eakley, Oklahoma; and a niece, Tonya Spencer, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his beloved dogs Whiskey, Maggie May, Jessie, and Bobo. Clyde will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Clyde was truly brokenhearted after the unexpected loss of his son Nathan just four short weeks ago. His shattered heart is now whole again. Clyde was reunited in death with his son Nathan; parents Byron and Betty (Settle) Spencer and brother Stephen Michael.

Clyde will be deeply missed. I had the privilege of meeting him in 2003 at Devon Energy, and we worked together until his retirement. He was an excellent cook and cherished spending time with his friends and family.

I first met Clyde around 2003 when my company merged with Devon Energy. He was always good to me during my time there and was instrumental in helping me succeed during the last 2-3 years before I retired. I´ll always remember that and my prayers go to his loved ones. Rest in peace Clyde.
