Reverend C.M. Titus, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mariamma Titus, with whom he shared over 56 blessed years of marriage, and the loving father of Debie (Titus) Thomas, and Jerry Titus.
Born in Kangazha, Kerala, India on August 17, 1943, Rev. Titus was the fourth of eight children to the late Mammen and Mariamma (Mathan) Cheriakalathil. Rev. Titus lived in India throughout his childhood and teenage years. Raised in a deeply faithful Christian home, he heard a call to full-time ministry as a teenager. Upon his graduation from Pathanad High School, he obtained a B.Sc degree from Changanassery S.B College, and then studied theology at Thiruvalla Sharon Bible College. He later taught at the college, and served as the General Secretary of the Sharon Fellowship Church.
After marrying Mariamma, he moved to Germany to continue his theological studies at European Nazarene College, before moving to the U.S and completing his Master of Divinity degree at Eastern Nazarene College. While his heart yearned to return to India, he remained in the U.S to ensure that he could provide for his parents and siblings back home, and ensure a brighter future for all of them.
Trusting in God's plan for his life, and unwavering in his call to ministry, he took on an associate pastor role at the First Church of the Nazarene in Cambridge, MA, before assuming the role of Associate Pastor at Tremont Temple Baptist Church in downtown Boston. While there, he oversaw all international ministries of the church for close to twenty years, devoting his time, energy, and resources to discipling hundreds of international students, refugees, and immigrant families. He led many of them to Christ, walking with them as they grew in their faith.
During this period of his life in the 80's and 90's, he still remained committed to his native Indian community, and formed the Kerala Christian Fellowship in 1984, to minister to a diverse congregation of Kerala-born believers settled in the greater Boston area.
After retiring from full time church ministry in 1999, he split his time between the US and India, serving as the pastor of India Christian Fellowship in Boston, MA, and supporting various Sharon Fellowship Churches back in Kerala as well.
Later, he co-founded the Sharon Fellowship Churches of North America, serving as President, and supporting the planting of new churches across the US.
In 2014 he and Mariamma relocated to Buford, Georgia, where they attended Atlanta Christian Assembly, and assisted in various ministry activities and Bible teaching. Rev. Titus remained there until 2019, when he moved back to the Boston area.
Alongside his decades of ministry, Rev. Titus was a devoted husband to Mariamma, a loving father to Debie Thomas (married to Alex Thomas), and his son Jerry Titus (married to Jesleen Titus). He was blessed with six adoring grandchildren: Priya Thomas, Kiran Thomas, Zachary Titus, Hannah Titus, Joshua Titus, and Naomi Titus.
Rev. Titus deeply enjoyed caring and providing for his family, and was known for his vast generosity, his tenderness and fun-loving humor towards children, and his deep desire to create spaces of hospitality, belonging, and abundance for everyone in his life. In his spare time, he loved working with his hands, doing building projects, gardening, and fishing. Considered the patriarch of the extended family in the US, he was especially proud to see his many nephews and nieces thrive.
Rev. Titus was promoted to Glory after several years of failing health, but remained steadfast in his faith until the last, using every opportunity, even in his weakened physical state, to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by Thankamma Alex (sister), Rachel George (sister), Saramma Mathai (sister), John Cheriakalathil (brother), and George Cheriakalathil, and their families. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Cheriakalathil Mammen, and his sister, Mary John. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins, both in the US and abroad.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, December 2nd from 3 pm until 6 pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home. A Service will follow at 7 pm at Mt. Hope Church, 3 McGinnis Dr., Burlington. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at Mt. Hope Christian Church at 10 am. Burial will immediately follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
