Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Nov. 22, 2025.
Carolyn Conroy, a fiercely devoted wife, mother and unapologetically unique soul, passed away peacefully on Nov. 7th 2025 after an amazingly well fought battle against non-small cell lung cancer, it had progressed to stage 4. She endured her fight with cancer by doing the things that she loved, working, cooking, walking the beach and enjoying her family, friends and her pets.
Born in Methuen, Ma., on February 7,1959, the daughter of the late Dr. James J. Conroy and Sylvia L. (Sirica) Conroy, she was raised in Andover, Ma., Carol attended Andover High School, Dean Junior College and Westfield State University.
Carol was the wife of Wibur Thomas (Tucker) Hooven IV and proud mother of Benjamin E. Domenic J. and Wesley M. Hooven. Her family resided in Topsfield, Ma., for roughly two decades and Beverly, Ma., prior to Topsfield, eventually settling in Bradford, Ma in 2019.
Carol was her family's steadfast provider, working tirelessly across the health industry throughout her working career. She spent many years as a health insurance marketer, then as a broker. She transitioned into working in healthcare sales with Brightview Senior Residential in Danvers, Ma., where she continued to utilize her abilities to sell with the charm and wit that she carried with her through her entire life. Her drive, charisma and ability to find humor in a sometimes-uncomfortable situation made her stand out in every role she took on.
Carol was so much more than her professional success; it wasn't limited to just her working life. Raising a family of three boys while still enjoying her hobbies was nothing short of miraculous. She was an amazing cook, always summoning up old family recipes and putting her own twist on them, she was famous for her Cesar salad dressing, shrimp scampi and pesto, just to name a few. She enjoyed gardening and her connections with her cousins and dear friends. Carol's love for animals was legendary. She was called "Aunt Kitty" by her nieces and nephews when she owned three cats, before those, three horses, and prior to passing, four dogs.
She found peace and beauty in nature, especially at the ocean. Beach walks weren't just a stroll, but a treasure hunt. Looking for shells, beach glass and driftwood pieces, she would find curious and unique ways to display those treasures in her home or gift them to others.
Agile and athletic, Caol always stayed physically fit; walking, running, burpees and weight lifting. She was a true self made woman, independent, bold and full of life. Her authenticity drew people to her, through her humor, stories, jokes or unwavering loyalty to the people she loved. She had grit, along with a sense of style and grace.
In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings, Kathleen (L. William) Law of West Newbury, Ma, Amy Conroy (Thomas Batt) of Haverhill, Ma., As well as a large extended family of an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Carol chose to be an anatomical donor of her body to help further the education of doctors and dentists at Boston University School of Medicine. Ther will be no funeral service per her request. A celebration of life gathering will be announced for late spring, early summer of 2026. Contributions in Carol's memory can be made to Lung-Strong.org,
