Robert "Bob" Conroy - The Man, The Myth, The Legend Robert Conroy - known to everyone simply as Bob - quietly reminded the rest of us that life's best moments are the simple ones. Born in Orange, New Jersey, raised in Bloomfield and Union, Bob spent many years in Whippany before calling The Villages, FL home for the last 18 years. He was the son of Raphael and Wilhemina Conroy and a loving brother to Jean and Phyllis. For 62 years he was the devoted husband of Lenore, and a steadfast father to Neil and Leah. He welcomed Melanie and Justin as children-in-law, and delighted in being grandfather to Louis, Daphne, Evan, and Rhys. Family came first, and Bob showed it in the small, steady ways that mattered most. A proud veteran who served the nation at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, and who then went on to work for Airtron in Morris Plains, NJ for 42 years. A man of few words and many quiet joys, Bob loved nothing more than kicking back to watch a ballgame with a beer in hand. He was the epitome of "easy going" - always up for whatever was suggested, whether that meant traveling the world with Lenore (Italy, Ireland, Hawaii, Mexico were favorites) or taking an airboat ride near The Villages on a whim. A self-described connoisseur of cheap beer and an enthusiastic player of bad golf, he didn't fuss about perfection - he simply enjoyed the moment and everyone around him. Bob's legacy is gentle and clear: a life lived with humor, patience, trustworthiness and loyalty. If you'd like to honor him, pour whatever passes for cheap beer in your fridge and have a chat with loved ones, or play a round of golf without keeping score. That's exactly how he would have wanted it. A viewing will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm with a short service to follow at 3:30pm at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 North Hwy, 27, Lady Lake, FL 32159. Bob will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL, with a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org).
