On Monday, April 21, 2025, Coar Singh passed away at the age of 79 in Dacula, Georgia.
He was born on September 21, 1945, to the late Sakaldas and Bhragrati Singh of Fyrish
Village, Berbice, Guyana and was the sixth of seven children. He attended Fyrish
Congregational Elementary School and then Berbice Educational Institute Secondary
School. After graduating High School in 1963, he was appointed as a pupil teacher at #56
Government School and subsequently attended the Government Training College for
Teachers in 1964, graduating in 1966 which led to employment at Tain Government School
in 1966 and then Fyrish Government School in 1970.
Coar was appointed Senior Master at Mabaruma Government Primary School in 1978 but
was immediately seconded to Yaksari Government School. He served as acting Headmaster
before accepting the position of Headmaster of St. Lust Elementary School on Berbice River.
Coar was married on September 26, 1969, to Seelochnie Juliet Armogan and had three
children; Diana, Dawn and Leon. He and his family immigrated to New York from Guyana in
1980. He worked at Merrill Lynch, Lloyds Bank, Archer Management Services and finally
Labcorp until retiring in 2008. He moved to Georgia from New York in 2016 after his beloved
wife's passing in 2015.
Coar embraced the Truth in 1972 and followed Jesus throughout his life. His love for the
Truth, God's servants and people was evidenced by his devotion until the day he died.
Left behind to cherish the many fond memories of him are his three children, Diana, Dawn
and Leon; his adored grandchildren, Jeanine, Kevin, Michelle and Lily, his sons' in-laws, Karl
and Randy; his daughter in-law, Becky; his older sister Evelyn; cousins, nieces, nephews,
and countless friends across the globe. Although Coar's physical presence may no longer
grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing,
and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do as his light will
forever shine brightly in our hearts. Coar will be deeply missed and always remembered for
his humor, wit, generosity, kindness and great pride he had for his beloved family.
Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone for the many thoughtful deeds
and kind expressions of love sent to us during our time of bereavement. We thank you for
your prayers and kind words of comfort.
