Cody Sargent Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2023.
Cody Allen "MF" Sargent, 38, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023. Born in Casper, WY, on July 25th, 1985, he was the son of Brett Sargent and Dee Lowry. Boy was the world not ready. Cody graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 2004. Although he met his future bride Frances in early elementary school, they reunited in 2010 and were later married in 2014.
Cody worked the majority of his life in the oil field. Anyone who is familiar with oil field life, knows it can be a lonely one with many days away from family and a lot of traveling. There, he met many of his lifelong friends who had become his chosen family. It was his love and dedication to the oil field that brought him to Johnstown, CO. At the time, he was only dating his now wife, Frances, for about five months when he packed up her and their son Owen, whom he loved like he was his own flesh and blood, and headed to Colorado determined to give them a better life, together.
From early childhood, Cody loved to be outside. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp especially with his father, Brett. He made an infinite amount of friends through his many passions and hobbies. Give the man a reason to drink and talk and he was in! Everyone loved that about him. He was the perfect balance of spontaneous and dependable. If you were to invite him, he would be there. No excuses. It was beautiful to see him spread his love, skills, knowledge, and favorite beers. He would run to you if you needed him. He enjoyed helping others. It gave him the greatest feeling of purpose. It's only fitting that Cody chose to be an organ donor. His last gift on Earth saves five lives and has created a legacy of life, where he will continue to impact those around him through this ultimate act of selflessness.
Surviving are: his wife of 9 years, Frances, their only son Owen, father Brett, mother Dee, brother Kaycee, sisters Erin and Ashkia, nieces Victoria, Naya, Shyanna, and Kamdyn, nephews Kristian, Hunter, Mason, and Holton. As well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He is preceded in death by grandfathers Jerry and Ron, grandmother Lenora, uncle Bart, and mother- in- law Joy.
Visitation for Cody will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the First Christian Church followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm.
