Cody Schneider Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hite Funeral Home on Mar. 7, 2026.
Carroll Frederick "Cody" Schneider Jr., age 84, of Kendallville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. Cody was born in Lisbon, Indiana, on June 10, 1941, to the late Carroll Frederick Schneider, Sr. and Bertha (Padget) Towns. He married his high school sweetheart, Avonna Rosella "Susie" Weimer, on October 29, 1958, at Church of God in Kendallville.

Cody had a dedicated career, beginning at McCray Refrigeration where he worked until its closing. He then worked as a truck driver for Kendallville Foundry before concluding his career as a semi-truck driver for ATTI.

A man of deep faith, he was a member of Independent Full Gospel Church, where he passionately served as the song leader for many years.

In his retirement, Cody pursued his passions, which included meticulously restoring his 1954 Chevy Belair and attending car shows. He could most often be found outdoors, proudly tending to his yard. He was also a devoted collector of antique telephones, accumulating a remarkable collection of over 2,000 phones. His grandchildren will fondly remember his tradition of making them his famous turtle pancakes for breakfast. Cody loved his family and the many friends he made over his many years.

Survivors include:
His devoted wife of 67 years, Susie Schneider of Kendallville.
Daughter, Mary (Loren) Allen of Kendallville.
Daughter, Carol (Jim) Colter of Kendallville.
Son, Fred (Tammy) Schneider of Kendallville.
Son, Tony (Jenny) Schneider of Kendallville.
Ten beloved grandchildren and twelve cherished great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chris Schneider; and two sisters, Hazel King and Carolyn Carteaux.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Independent Full Gospel Church, 1302 South Gonser Street, Ashley, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Independent Full Gospel Church with a luncheon to immediately follow the funeral service. Rev. Sam Weimer and Pastor Andrew Sexton will officiate the service.
Burial will follow the luncheon at 3:30 PM at Lakeview Cemetery in Kendallville. Pallbearers will be Cory Allen, Chris Allen, Cody Schneider, Trevor Schneider, Jimmy Colter, Joe Inman. Honorary bearers are Jacob Inman, Logan Allen, and Johnny Harper.
