Kent Gillian Ihrie, age 84, of Witmer Lake, near Wolcottville, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at home. Kent was born in Kendallville, Indiana, on September 1, 1941, to the late Wendell Morris Ihrie and Mary Elizabeth (Gillian) Ihrie. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1959 and honorably served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. On March 11, 1967, he married Ruth Elaine Fischer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla. Ruthie preceded him in death on September 9, 2016.

Kent worked as a tool and die design engineer for over 40 years with JB Tool and Midwest Tool in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed sailing, riding motorcycles, target shooting and spending time reading one of his many bibles. He also loved his family, and focused his life around them.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Dawn Renee and Brian Ramsey of Kendallville.
Son, Chad and Dawn Ihrie of Kendallville.
Son, Mark Ihrie and Alyssia Mickem of Kendallville.
Daughter, Sara and Chase Paduano of Rome City.
Grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Jerry) Weber of Kendallville; Kourtney (Christian) Mayberry of Corunna; Kyle (Breanna) Ramsey of Albion; Anna Ihrie of West Lafayette, Carson Ihrie of Kendallville, Kendall Mickem of Auburn, Colton Ihrie of Kendallville, and Jerred Paduano of Rome City.
Great grandchildren, Jerry Weber, Jr. and Terry Weber and two great grandchildren due very soon.
Brother-in-law, Steven Fischer of Avilla.
Sister-in-law, Connie Fischer of Fort Wayne.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell Ihrie and Marie (Herron) Ihrie; and Mary Ihrie; his wife of nearly 50 years, Ruthie Ihrie; sisters, Carolyn "Betty" (Donald) Taylor, Sheila Diane (Cy) Peachy. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Lamb, Delores (Ronnie) Lamb, Alice (Donald) Huth, Barbara (Richard "Dick") Hippenhammer, Irene (Amos) Delong, and Jeanette Fischer; Thomas (Nancy) Fischer, Donald "Butch" Fischer, Chuck (Sherry) Fischer, Roberta (Nick) Weber.

The family will gather together privately for a farewell viewing followed by burial next to his beloved, Ruthie, at Woodruff Cemetery in LaGrange County.
