Coleen M. Bent

Coleen Marie Bent, age 70, of Sand Lake, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at home under the care of her family and Corewell Health Hospice. The daughter of Gerald Lewis & Melissa (Marcellus) Balczak, she was born on September 9, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On August 29, 1980 in Grand Rapids, she married Jack Allen Bent, and together they enjoyed over forty-five years of marriage and raised two daughters.

A 1973 graduate of Catholic Central High School, she then went on to obtain her cosmetology degree and was a beautician for much of her life. She enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing and feeding a variety of different kinds of birds. To test her luck, and live a life with fun, she ventured on bus trips to area casinos, Las Vegas trips, and loved cruising with family.

Coleen was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald & Melissa Balczak; a grandson, Dominick Northern; and a brother, Theodore Balczak.

Surviving is her husband, Jack Bent; their daughters, Catherine Northern and Casandra Bent; four grandchildren, Angelica Trost, Ashauna Northern, Kaiden Robinson, and Ki’ren Robinson; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Anthony Balczak, Kevin Balczak, Gerald Balczak, Bernard Balczak, and Chris Balczak; and many nieces and nephews.
