Coleen Labertew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Overton Funeral Home - Indianola on Apr. 19, 2022.
Services for Coleen Anne Labertew, 76, was welcomed into the arms of her savior on Friday, April 15, 2022 after a lengthy battle with dementia at the Glen Oaks Nursing Home in Urbandale, IA., will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Indianola First Assembly of God Church with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Max Labertew; sons, Joel (Angela) Labertew and Daniel (Amber) Labertew; grandchildren, Jacob Labertew, Samuel Labertew, Lilia Labertew, Alivia Labertew, Asher Wooden and Abram Wooden; sisters, Roberta (Edward) Reynolds and Marnis Joy; and brother, Randy Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wilma Weaver.
After graduation from high school, Coleen attended beauty school and worked in Indianola until beginning her family in the early 70's. Coleen was known in the community as "God's Little Cheerleader" befriending, encouraging, and praying for countless friends, pastors, and missionaries. Her small stature, big smile, and quirky mannerisms made strangers friends. She delivered Meals on Wheels in the community and wrote the monthly "Senior Treasures" column in Indianola's City Gate newsletter. She enjoyed stamping and card games with her treasured church and prayer-partner friends. Coleen loved traveling, camping, and attending Southern Gospel concerts with Max. She was a dedicated mom attending countless little league games, wrestling meets, and Bible Quiz tournaments with her boys who were her pride and joy. Coleen loved God, trusted Jesus to lead her life, and was at peace with all. She's now at rest – right in mind, soul, and spirit with Christ.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish to honor her life can give to the Indianola First Assembly of God Church or Hope Ministries in her memory.
