Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Peoria on Feb. 4, 2026.
Colleen Marie Dunning, a cherished Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother and Grandmother whose warmth and dedication to her family were the hallmarks of her life, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Peoria, Arizona. Born on August 11, 1957 in Imperial, Pennsylvania, Colleen's journey was one marked by love, family and faith, including the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. Colleen's early years were lived in Pennsylvania while spending the remainder of her life in Arizona

Colleen is preceded in Death by her loving Parents Robert and Billie Berwick. In honor of their memories, Colleen carried on the values they instilled in her, dedicating her life to her husband and the family she raised. Colleen's heart endured a painful loss with the precedent death of her beloved daughter, Heather Montez and grandchildren Jason, Noah and Lily. Despite this profound sorrow, she continued to pour her love into her surviving children, grandchildren and loved ones, leaving behind memories and stories to share of her legacy and strength.

Survived by her sister MaryAnn Pederzolli (Fred), Colleen and MaryAnn shared many milestones, and memories over the years that she held dear to her heart.

Colleen is survived by her beloved husband Steven Dunning. Her devotion to him throughout their Marriage was a testament to their unbreakable bond. Together, they built a life rich in shared experiences, love and laughter.

She is also survived by Her sons, Manuel Montez III (Jennifer), William Skaggs (Amber), and Colton Skaggs (Maria) who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.

The joy of being a grandmother was one of Colleen's most treasured roles. She cherished being a Nana to her grandchildren, Brianna Montez-Borbon (Omar), Aria, Asher, and Amethyst Skaggs and celebrated them with each milestone and achievement.

She felt blessed to become a Great-Nana to her Great-Granddaughters Mia and Bella Borbon and cherished every moment she spent with them.

Colleen's professional life was marked by a successful career in Accounting , where her keen eye for detail and love of crunching numbers shined through. In later years, she embraced the roles of mother, grandmother, and wife. Her presence in the lives of her loved ones was a source of comfort and joy

Traveling, camping, and fishing with her husband Steve were among Colleen's favorite pastimes. They shared a love for adventure and the outdoors, which was only matched by their love for their furry companions. Over the years, their dogs and kitties were not just pets but members of the family, each cherished for their unique personalities.

Colleen's green thumb brought beauty to her home and joy to her heart. Her backyard was her sanctuary, where she lovingly tended to her plants, trees and flowers. Roses were her favorite, their blooms a reflection of the love and care she put into nurturing them. She loved her quiet morning coffee and cookie time amidst the natural beauty of her backyard.

Family was the cornerstone of Colleen's life. Game nights, pool days, holidays, and birthdays were not just occasions but opportunities to create lasting memories. Her laughter while being razzed by her sons, is a melody that will continue to live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, who all enjoyed making Mom and Nana laugh.

Colleen Marie Dunning's life was a beautiful story that will be remembered for generations to come. Her unwavering Faith, the love of her Family, Friends and Fur-babies will forever be celebrated. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will be a beacon of light for generations to come.
