Colleen S. Loree, 87, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on November 19, 2024, after battling cancer for more than two years. Born on December 16, 1936, in Geneva, New York, Colleen loved reading, music, and travel.
Colleen is survived by her daughters Paula and Carol, her sister Shirley Knight, and two grandchildren.
After graduating from Waterloo High School in New York, Colleen completed a course of study at Rochester Business Institute, and then embarked on a lifelong career as an executive secretary that would eventually help to feed her wanderlust. As an active member of the American Society of Administrative Professionals, she welcomed every opportunity to travel to conferences all over the United States and the world.
In between trips, she was a loyal patron of the Durham Library, an active member of Triangle Grace Church, and an enthusiastic season-ticket patron of the North Carolina Symphony and Durham Bulls Baseball.
A memorial service is being held at Triangle Grace Church in Durham on December 7, at 11 a.m. Remembrances may be made through contributions in Colleen's name to the American Cancer Society.
