Colleen A. Meisel

Colleen A. Meisel (nee Leavy), 93, of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain after a brief illness. She was born December 27, 1923 in Highland Park, MI and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 51 years moving from Dearborn, MI. Colleen worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for 20 years. She was also a flight instructor, commercial pilot, and bookkeeper in Michigan for 25 years. Colleen had also owned and operated several different business including a drug store. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, and was active in the Vermilion YMCA and with the Salvation Army, Vermilion Unit, serving as treasurer. She enjoyed boating, playing and watching tennis, knitting, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her son, Paul E. (Rebecca) Meisel III of Danville, IL; daughters, Kathleen (Kevin) Muldoon of Vermilion and Cindy Lee (John) Huffman of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Sheila (Matthew) Chabot, Johnna (Will) Fischer, Leah (Michael) Protiva, Dr. Zachary (Dr. Jayda) Meisel, Collin (Katy Daily) Meisel, Technical Sergeant, USAF, Tracee (Connor Clarke) Huffman, and Jenna (Justin) Hoback; and great-grandchildren, Noelle Chabot, Harper Protiva, Layla Hoback, and 2 on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Meisel II, Master Sergeant, USAF; parents, William J. and Erla L. (nee Bollinger) Leavy; and her brother, William J. Leavy Jr. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH. Reverend Ron Brickner will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
