Colleen “Co” Campbell Newman 1952 ~ 2025
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Wife Colleen Campbell Newman passed peacefully in her home on December 11, 2025 in Centerville, Utah after fighting breast cancer for the second time.
Colleen Marie Campbell was born March 28, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ellen Marie Eccles and Dern Albert Campbell. Raised in Murray, Utah, Colleen graduated high school from Murray High in 1970. She was a Booster for the Pep Club, and sang in many different choir clubs. She spent a summer working at Salt Lake Hardware with her father the summer before her senior year.
For 15 years Colleen worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for Electro Controls, Brown Distributing, and Tracy-Collins Bank, before becoming a homemaker to three lovely children. A few years into her youngest attending school, she served the children of Bryant Middle school their meals for ten years.
Colleen married Stephen Newman on February 17, 1978 and raised three children together: Becky, CD, and Pam. She was a talented seamstress and loved embroidery. She was widowed in 2012 and cared for her developmentally delayed daughter, Becky, for most of her life.
Colleen was a faithful member of the Latter Day Saints for the entirety of her presence on earth. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years in the Riverside Ward in Salt Lake City, Utah. Colleen was excited to be reunited with her family in the afterlife. Colleen was the most patient, kind, level-headed person. She was very loving to anyone she met, and loved to help anyone she could.
Colleen spent over a decade battling a neurological disorder that robbed her of the ability to walk and eventually left her wheelchair bound. Throughout that, and two cancer diagnoses, she always remained positive and loving.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, Dern and Ellen Campbell, and her husband, Stephen Newman. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Newman, CD Newman, Pamela Newman. Her two grandchildren. Her sister, Marsha Hodgson. Her niece Michelle Hodgson-Smith, and nephew Eric Hodgson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 12 p.m. in the Centerville Deuel Creek Ward, 690 N. 400 W. The viewing will be held from 11:00 to 11:45, prior to the service. Funeral services are under Serenicare Funeral Home
