Judy Peterson Christensen was born Jan. 9, 1943, in Ogden, Utah. She passed away Nov. 6, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah, at age 82.
The daughter of Lavon and Milo Peterson, Judy grew up in Roy, Utah, and attended Weber High School (class of 1961), Weber State College, and graduated from Utah State University in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.
Judy married Roger Christensen June 9, 1966, in the Logan Utah Temple. They are the parents of five children—Brent (Autumn), Scott (Vicki), Lisa (deceased), Alan (Jenny) and Eric (Emily). She is the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren—Katheryn Jensen (James), Klara Cowley (Garrett), Kasandra, Kerri Cole (Andrew), Emily Trotter (Tyler), Jason, Ryan, Alexis, Riley, Chase Barrett (Chanty) and Brennon Petersen (Kayla)—and five great-grandchildren.
She worked as a teacher in the public schools as a home-economics teacher and substitute in Salt Lake and Davis counties for many years. In their later years, Judy and Roger served together for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah Ogden Mission.
Judy was thoughtful, kind, and unafraid to speak her mind with the best of intentions. She loved deeply and devoted her life to her loved ones and faith.
She was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, always serving in her home and her neighborhood and her family. Many described her as quietly dependable, and she set a great example for others.
Judy’s sewing and cooking talents were legendary. She generously shared her skills and creations with family and friends. In recent years she devoted countless hours to lovingly sewing baby blankets—more than 3,000—which were distributed through church humanitarian channels throughout the world.
She had a deep testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and her faith in Him was a guiding force throughout her life. She loved singing in church choirs and found joy performing the songs of Zions gospel alongside her husband. Judy served in many church callings and found great joy in her service at the Bountiful Utah Temple.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Judy is survived by siblings David Peterson and Barbara Brown (Danny). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, daughter Lisa, and siblings Eileen Carr and Patch Peterson.
A viewing will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Centerville South Stake Center, located at 270 North 300 East in Centerville, Utah.
Interment and dedication of the grave will take place at the Centerville City Cemetery.
Judy’s family expresses their gratitude to all for their generous outpouring of love and kindness.
