In Loving Memory of Ann Doxey Spencer
Ann Doxey Spencer, of Eden, Utah, returned home to her Father in Heaven on November 7, 2025, at the age of 80.
Ann was born on December 22, 1944, at Dee Hospital in
Ogden, Utah. When she was ten years old, her family moved from Ogden to Huntsville, where she spent her childhood enjoying the small-town life and close friendships that would always mean so much to her.
Ann continued her elementary and junior high education in Huntsville, where she was voted "Most Friendly Girl in the School." She went on to attend Weber High School, where she was selected to attend Utah Girls State, earned the Sterling Scholar Award, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. After high school, Ann was nominated for and crowned Miss Weber County Dairy Princess, a recognition that reflected her genuine warmth, kindness, and easy smile, qualities that endeared her to everyone she met.
She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Weber State and accepted a teaching position at H. Guy Child Elementary School in South Ogden.
On May 31, 1968, Ann married her best friend, Steve Spencer, in the Logan Temple. Ann fulfilled her lifelong dream of being a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. Her home was a place of love, learning, and laughter, where she poured her heart into teaching and caring for her five beautiful children.
Ann's greatest joy was found in being a mother. She poured her heart into raising her five children, finding happiness in their growth, their faith, and the lives they built. She took special pride in seeing each of them married in the temple and establishing homes grounded in faith, high standards, and joy. Her love and example continue to guide her 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren-with another little one on the way-each of whom adores their "Grandma Ann" for her warmth, humor, and the way she made everyone feel uniquely loved. She never said no to her children and had a remarkable gift for making each one feel like the most important person in her world. Her love was steady, her expectations high, and her devotion unwavering-a legacy that will live on for generations.
Ann found joy and purpose in creating a beautiful, well-kept home and yard. She believed in hard work, doing things right, taking pride in every task, and finding satisfaction in a job well done. Her home reflected her care and attention to detail, from the perfectly tended flowerbeds to the warm meals that brought her family together. Her Christmas pumpkin rolls were legendary, her holiday wassail a family favorite, and her chicken enchiladas often requested. She led by example, working side by side with her children to teach them the value of effort, consistency, and doing one's best. Though she expected much, she gave even more, and her home stood as a reflection of the love and dedication that defined her life.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ann was devoted to serving her Heavenly Father. She served several missions, including an Inner City Mission in Ogden, a full-time mission in Nauvoo, Illinois, and, over a ten-year period, as part of the Church's Wheelchair Initiative, delivering wheelchairs to people in need in 13 countries around the world. Ann was also a gifted organist who shared her musical talents in both her ward and the temple for many years.
The final year of Ann's life was spent at Our House of Ogden, where she was surrounded by kindness and care. Her family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their patience, compassion, and genuine love. They brought comfort, dignity, and friendship to Ann's final days, and for that, her family will always be deeply thankful.
Ann is survived by her husband, Steve Spencer, and their five children: Scott (Sandy), Chad (Nancy), Angie (Nate), Brett (Kirstin), and Stephanie (Greg). She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14th, at 11 am at the Eden 2nd Ward meetinghouse, 2900 N. Highway 162, Eden, UT 84310. Viewings will be held at the church on Thursday, November 13th, from 6 to 8 pm, and again on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the service.
