Colleen was born on January 6, 1943, to Arnold and Esther (Medalen) Kjos at home. She attended country school at Lake Johanna School District #4 and graduated from Brooten High School in 1961. She received nurses training at Rice Memorial Hospital and then worked there as an OR nurse for almost 35 years. On June 12, 1993, Colleen married Bruce Peterson at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Church. They made their home at the 40-acre farm where Bruce had been living since 1966.
Colleen loved flowers, and the flower garden kept getting bigger every year. She and Bruce enjoyed going for long walks most days, even in the winter if the roads weren't icy. She also loved out little country church and all the wonderful friends there and getting together for WMF every month.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 32 years, Bruce; and her brother, Carl (and Barbara Jean) Kjos; besides other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Fred (and Faye) Kjos and Hanley Wiig.
