DeWayne Allen Sondrol, age 81, of rural Sunburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 19, at his home following a 16-month battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

DeWayne was born on May 21, 1943, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Delvord and Amy (Jacobson) Sondrol. He grew up on a farm near Sunburg, was baptized and confirmed at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church and received his education from the Kerkhoven school. At a young age he learned to drive the tractor and began helping his father on the family farm. He was a farmer his whole life and raised grain, livestock, dairy, hogs and poultry. When DeWayne was younger, he enjoyed singing and his singing could often be heard above the sound of the tractor while he worked the fields and mowed the lawn. He enjoyed farming, mowing, attending threshing shows, listening to Daniel O'Donnell, and watching westerns. DeWayne was a very kindhearted, unselfish, and thoughtful man. His sisters say that he was the best brother anyone could ask for.
He is survived by two sisters, Linda (and Richard) Ellingboe of Maynard and Virginia Sondrol of Sunburg, besides other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rosalie Larson.
