RUSSELL, Colleen Marie (née Baldwin), 36, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, in Dayton, OH, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 17, 1989, Colleen was the cherished daughter of Eddie and Nancy Baldwin of Toluca, Illinois. Though one among many siblings, she stood out in every way imaginable--a force of nature whose impact will be forever felt by those who knew her. Colleen proudly served in the United States Air Force. Alongside her military service, she was deeply passionate about advocating for and supporting individuals with special needs. She had a heart for inclusion and compassion that touched many lives. Her presence was vibrant and sharp-witted, always ready for a spirited debate. A true animal lover, she adored all creatures great and small--dogs, cats, even ducks held a special place in her heart. Gardening brought her peace and joy-especially sunflowers. Above all else, Colleen's greatest love was for her children. She faced every challenge with resilience and unwavering devotion to them.
She is survived by her husband, Luke Russell; her children, Alexander (AJ) Newport, Collette Russell, and Colton Russell; her parents, Eddie and Nancy Baldwin; siblings Adam (Anne) Symanski, Jessica (Adam) Hood, Rachel (Brandon) Barisch, Keith (Kayla) Baldwin, Brooke (Scott) Behmetuik, Maria Baldwin, and Annette (Brett) Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. Colleen was preceded in death by her brother Michael and her grandparents from the Fuchs and Baldwin families.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Colleen's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to her heart, reflecting her continual support for fellow veterans. Information on her service will be released at a later time. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Colleen, please visit our Tree Store.
