Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home - Dayton on Oct. 2, 2025.
Ronald Eugene Gressner, age 80 of Nancy, KY and known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, October 1, 2025. Born on Tuesday, July 24, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, Ron's journey through life was marked by his love for his family and his deep appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.
Ron spent his early years in
Dayton, Ohio, where he was an active Boy Scout & graduated from Belmont High School. He carried the discipline and camaraderie he learned there throughout his life, especially during his proud service in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country, Ron dedicated 20 years of his life to General Motors and Kuhn's Brothers Foundry, where he was respected as a skilled assembly and factory lead worker. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and diligence, always willing to lend a hand or share a kind word.
Upon his retirement in 1989, Ron embraced the tranquility of nature on his beloved farmland in Nancy, Kentucky. There, surrounded by the rolling hills and the serene lakes, he found joy in boating and fishing. Ron's love for animals was evident to all who knew him. He raised and cared for various creatures, including dogs, cats, alpacas, and horses, treating each with the same compassion and kindness he showed to people.
He was a devoted father to his children, Russell Eugene Gressner and Melissa Marie Gressner. Russell, who resides in Nancy, Kentucky, and Melissa, who lives in Denver, Colorado, with her sons & Ron's grandsons, Michael Paul Tortorici and Henry Curt Tortorici.
Ron's legacy is one of steadfast faith, love for his family, and a deep connection with the natural world around him. Those who knew him will remember him as faith-filled, friendly, and incredibly handy – a man who could fix anything & was always willing to lend a hand to others.
As we bid farewell to Ron, we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We celebrate a life well-lived and a faith well-kept. Ron's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the beauty of every sunrise & sunset.
May He Rest In Peace
A Graveside Service and Marine Funeral Honors will be held Friday, October 10th at 1pm, as we lay Ron to rest with his family in Good Hope Cemetery, Washington Court House, Ohio.
