Colleen Shaughnessy Obituary

Colleen Barbara Shaughnessy, Esq., 55, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, with her sons by her side at her home. Born in Washington, DC on May 2, 1966, daughter of the late John "Jack" Francis and Barbara (Horner) Shaughnessy, she had spent most of her life in Windsor and attended Windsor High School. Colleen worked for many years as a bus and tractor-trailer driver before returning to school as an adult. She persevered and after receiving her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Manchester Community College, she enrolled at Western New England College to pursue her Bachelors Degree. Colleen worked as a paralegal in Hartford and soon realized that she wanted to be an attorney. With the support of her family and friends she continued to work during the day and attend classes in the evening and she received her Juris Doctorate from Western New England College in 2013. Shortly after graduation, Colleen took a position with Raytheon Technologies Corporation as a Contracts Manager and for the last seven years her office was in Windsor Locks at Collins Aerospace in the same building where her father had worked for over 30 years at Hamilton Standard. She leaves two sons, Brett Baker and Michael Baker both of Windsor; her brother, Michael J. Shaughnessy and his wife Nancy Prather of West Hartford; a niece and nephew, Sophia and Jackson Shaughnessy both of West Hartford; and many cousins. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 26, 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will be private. For online condolences please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

Tony, Michael and Michael,
Knowing the Shaughnessy's from birth and growing up with each other as next door neighbors, I have so many amazing memories of Colleen. We ice skated in her back yard in the winter of 76-77 to the disco version of Beethoven's Fifth, frequently visited the neighbor's horse, Starbuck, across the street and then came up with our own long list of horse names pretending that we owned them all, swung on vines in the woods near Oliver Ellsworth School where Colleen fell and sprained her wrist, and we also shared a locker in high school amongst many other fond memories. We remained in touch through the years even after we were no longer neighbors and I'm so glad I got together with her last summer to attend a concert on the Windsor green, the last time we saw each other. I'll always remember her as an ambitious "go-getter" and will never forget her big smile. I hope your dear memories of her help ease you through this sad time. She was taken from us way too soon.
I'll miss you, Colleen.
Your good friend, Steven

Tony and Michael - your mom was such a strong woman who persevered through many obstacles in her life. I know how hard it is to lose her, but I am sure she was with your Grandma and Grandpa celebrating St. Patrick's Day . Cherish the memories. Janet & the Burke kids.

Working with your mom at Pratt & Whitney was truly a pleasure. We became very close friends. My memories of her will never be forgotten. One of the best nights in my life, was when we went to a Foreigner concert together.
She was a beautiful and classy woman!
