Colleen Sue Wackerly (Kilkenny), age 70, of Louisville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the Truman Hospice Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 2, 1955, in Canton, Ohio, Colleen was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie Kilkenny. She was a 1973 graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. On September 27, 1975, she married the love of her life, Dave Wackerly, in Louisville, Ohio. Together they spent almost 50 years building a life filled with laughter, family, and many adventures.
Colleen is survived by her devoted husband, Dave; her children Brian (Michelle) Wackerly of Struthers, OH, Matt Wackerly of Cape Coral, FL, and KC (Brian) Michna of Louisville, OH; and her cherished grandchildren Colin, Gavyn, Reid, and Xahria. She also leaves behind her loving siblings Becky (Joe) Violand, Kathy (Rick) Malone, and Pat (Mary Lynn) Kilkenny, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were like family to her.
A beloved bartender at the Louisville American Legion Post 548, Colleen was known for her quick wit, warm smile, and her knack for making everyone feel welcome. She often called the Legion "Heaven's little waiting room," and she served many friends, some of which we've lost that are excited to be reunited with their favorite bartender. A proud member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she gave selflessly of her time and energy to our veterans.
Colleen loved life's simple joys-Enjoying an excessively burnt hotdog after boating on Lake Milton, cooking with her grandchildren, golfing with Dave, and spending time with friends at the Legion and VFW never turning down one more Michelob Ultra, even if Dave was ready to go eat dinner.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Truman Hospice facility and the University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center/Intensive Care Unit for the extraordinary care they provided.
In keeping with her generous spirit, donations in Colleen's memory may be made to: LifeCare Hospice 716 Commercial Ave SW New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or online at ohioshospice.org.
Colleen will be remembered for her humor, her kindness, and her ability to bring people together. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren, the friendships she cherished, and the countless lives she touched.
Friends and family are asked to come celebrate her life on September 27th 2025 from 4-8pm at the Louisville American Legion Post 548 925 West St. Louis Ct Louisville OH 44641
