Stephanie M. Elkins-Messman, 52, of
Louisville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Born on September 10, 1973, at Twin City Hospital in
Dennison, Ohio, she was the daughter of Dewey M. Elkins and Pamela L. Elkins.
Stephanie was the eldest of five siblings: Christy L. Cole, Jamie M. Elkins, Angela M. Perkins, Brandy J. Elkins, and Stacy R. Elkins. She was preceded in death by her father and her non-birth mother, Lila B. Elkins. She is survived by her siblings; her two children, Jacob B. Messman and Grace M. Messman; her ex-husband, Michael L. Messman; and many cousins and extended family members.
An incredibly loving and resilient woman and dedicated mother, Stephanie often prioritized the needs of her children, family, and friends before her own. Her devotion was evident as she supported her children through their education and saw her son through college, even if poverty presented a significant challenge to her and Michael throughout their children's formative years. She made it work however she could. She had a deep affection for dogs, especially her beloved Beagle, Daisy, who passed away the night before she did. She cared deeply about shelter dogs and would typically share their stories and sometimes adopt them when it was feasible.
Stephanie was exceptionally hardworking. She earned her Medical Assistant certificate from AEC Southern Ohio College (2003–2004) and served as a Medical Assistant and Billing Specialist for various offices in the Massillon area.
She found great joy in attending modern country concerts with her friends, and took a liking to artists like Jelly Roll. She was also a lifelong fan of Elvis and Michael Jackson. She enjoyed classic television shows like The Golden Girls and Laverne & Shirley, often forcing Michael to binge them while they were still together. An avid sports fan, she closely followed the Ohio State Buckeyes, Browns, Cavaliers, and Guardians. The way she glowed when the Buckeyes and Cavaliers won championships was a sight to behold. Stephanie was also a gifted cook, best known for her famous homemade noodles served during Thanksgiving and Christmas-which were loved by everyone-as well as her fried cheesy potatoes and no-bake cheesecake. She also greatly enjoyed sharing recipes she found delicious or endearing on her Facebook page.
While we wish she was still in our lives, it is comforting to know she is no longer struggling and is no longer in pain. Her memory, smile, and love remain eternal. She will live on through her children, family, and friends, wherever they go.
Her celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026 at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home from 10am-12pm. All are welcome to honor her life and pay respects.
