I worked with "Mrs. Erickson" as a nurse's aide on 3 South/3 AC/3 Surg in the late 1960's when I was a student nurse at Marian College. She was a wonderful nurse: professional, caring, knowledgeable, competent, kind, efficient...in other words, a perfect role model for a student who wanted to become a nurse just like her! I got married in 1970, and left St. Agnes hospital, and the great team I worked with there. Since graduation, I have worked as a nurse in psych nursing, geriatric nursing, public health, pediatrics, and as a nurse educator after getting my masters' degree. In all those years, I never worked with an RN who was quite as wonderful a role model and delightful as a person as Mrs. Erickson. She has earned her wings. The attached photo shows the "old St. Agnes; the long section center right this the screen porches on the sides was 3 South...wooden beds, no private bathrooms, tall drafty windows, but with the best of care. I believe the entire hospital as shown in the photo is now gone.
