Colman "Harris" Eaves

Colman "Harris" Eaves, born on September 7, 1947, in the Zebina community, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2025, at his residence in Warrenville, South Carolina. He lived a life characterized by loyalty, devotion, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Harris was a proud patriot who joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War, dedicating over twenty years to the National Guard. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he carried that sense of pride throughout his life. After returning from military service, Harris worked various local jobs in the Wrens area before joining Air Balance, where he continued until the company closed. In his later years, he drove a school bus, sharing his warmth and kindness with the younger generation.

A 1967 graduate of Wrens High School, Harris was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. He was known for his quiet and unassuming nature, living a simple but fulfilling life that reflected his values. His loyalty to family was paramount, exemplified by the care he provided to his beloved companion, June Ramsey, whom he supported until her passing. Following June's death, Harris remained in Warrenville, continuing to honor her memory while navigating his own health challenges.

Harris enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including taking trips to the mountains and Coleman Lake, where he found joy in nature. He was often seen visiting with friends at Lloyd's Garage in Wrens, sharing stories and laughter. An avid fisherman, he also took delight in watching old western movies, immersing himself in the nostalgia of a bygone era.

Harris leaves behind a sister, Anita Eaves Trujillo; stepchildren, Jeneile Dinning and Fred Ramsey; four step-grandchildren anthony Fiel (Stacie), Mikey Vargason (Heidi), Melinda Lovell (Gary) and Monica Matthews (James); fourteen step great-great grandchildren; along with other extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora Lee McNeely Eaves and Calhoun Franklin "CF" Eaves; siblings, Virginia E. Carpenter and Edward Eaves; and his lifelong companion, June Ramsey.

The family will greet friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Funeral services will then commence at 2:00PM with Rev. David Knowling officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Gordon Burke, Herchel Dinning, Anthony Fail, Christian Fail, Ryan Fail, and Fred Ramsey.

The family strongly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ebenezer Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Anne Burke, 1518 Ocala Road, Wrens GA 30833.

Colman "Harris" Eaves lived a life filled with love, loyalty, and service, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
