Colt Jacob Thompson, 41, of Nelsonville, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Colt was born on January 18, 1984, in Lancaster, the son of Lanette (Bownes) Blair and Roger Thompson Jr.

Colt loved sports! He was a big fan and supporter of the Logan Chieftains and of Ohio State Football. Colt also received many accolades in high school and college where he excelled at football and track. He was inducted into the Logan Athletic Hall of Fame. Colt enjoyed writing, especially poetry. He also loved astronomy.

Colt is survived by his parents, Lanette (Larry) Blair of Nelsonville and Roger (Janet) Thompson Jr. of Lancaster; siblings, Clint (Denika Moon) Thompson of Logan, Coy (Hannah) Blair of Logan, Breeana Blair of Nelsonville, Bailey Blair of Nelsonville, Bryce Blair of Nelsonville, and Brandie Clark of Logan; grandmother, Carol Bownes of Nelsonville; nieces and nephews, Rory Thompson, Chyler Thompson, Ilah Blair, Steele Blair, and Cameron Dunn; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Colt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mason Bownes and Roger and Shirley Thompson Sr., and aunt, Bernice Moore.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan, with Barbara Harkless officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests folks wear Logan or OSU attire in honor of Colt’s favorite sports teams.

Donations can be made in memory of Colt to the Hocking County Humane Society, 36960 Hocking Drive, Logan, Ohio, 43138.
