How do you convey a legendary life of 94 beautiful, love filled years in one announcement? We can only scratch the surface at this moment. It is with reluctant and saddened hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Concepion C. Tapia, (Connie), 94, of Casa Grande who died from cardiovascular complication on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.Mrs. Tapia was born on February 3,1930, in Bisbee, Arizona to Jose and Catalina Campoy, she was the fifth of thirteen children. The family moved to Casa Grande when she was 6 years old and it is here that she made her home for the next 88 years.
Connie began working at a very young age, establishing a work ethic that would impress us all. She worked tirelessly for various restaurants in the community to fulfill her passion for cooking and feeding the people she loved. However, it was in 1983 that Robert asked her to hone her energy, passion and talents into a new restaurant. Her cooking evolved from feeding an ever growing family in her own home to directing and influencing the rest of the cooks in the restaurant with her son at the helm and several family members by her side at Mi Amigo Ricardos. She shared her favorite recipes with eagerness and passion, and continued there for 22 successful years, retiring at the age of 75. Today and "tomorrow" her recipes can and will still be enjoyed.
Her legacy lives on. When she wasn’t working, which was rare, you would find her keeping busy with family and friends in person or on the phone which was usually perched on her shoulder. When she found time to relax, you would find her enjoying her novelas or game shows, Family Feud was her favorite. In keeping up with the times she enjoyed her word finds and games on her tablet. There was never a dull moment in her home, the door as you know was always open for a visitor, and to her there was no such thing as a stranger.
Her survivors include 3 siblings, Augustine, Alfredo Campoy and Margarita Pierce. Her nine children; Sally Macias (Ismael), Freddy Tapia (Julie), Virginia Encinas (Frank), Robert Tapia (Cindy), Shirley Davis (Bobby), Jimmy Tapia (Lora), Ronnie Tapia, Barbara Medrano (Jimmy) of Casa Grande and Rosie Gonzales (Ricardo) of Tucson. As well as, 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren and not to be missed, you, her friends and community.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fernando H. Tapia, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild.
She loved her family and all of her wonderful friends. To know her was to love and be loved by her no matter your relation. We invite you to share in her celebration of life as we gather as one to honor her beautiful love filled life on Saturday September 21st, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande. Visitation starting at 8:30a.m; followed by Rosary at 9:00a.m and Funeral Mass at 9:30a.m. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Casa Grande.
