Connie Bertram Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home - Monticello on Jan. 5, 2026.
Connie Deloris Bertram, born July 13, 1948, entered her eternal home on January 2, 2026, surrounded by the love and legacy she spent a lifetime building.
Connie was a beloved sister, companion, aunt, business owner and friend to so many. She is lovingly survived by her brother, Bob (Faye) Bertram, two sisters, Carolyn (Darrell) Shearer and Joyce (Ronnie) Taylor; and her special life companion, Milton Rector, who shared life with her in love and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Pearl Bertram; two brothers, Bill and Tank Bertram; and her special great-niece, Trannie Brooke DeRossett, all of whom welcomed her home with open arms.
Connie was truly loved by all who knew her. Her laughter was unmistakable, contagious, joyful, and powerful enough to fill even the largest room. It was a reflection of her heart: warm, welcoming and full of life.
For 43 years, Connie owned and operated Connie's Corner Market, a business that became far more than a store. It was a true staple in the community, a familiar stop, and a gathering place for many. Connie was a hard worker in every sense of the word, pouring her time, determination, and heart into everything she did.
Family was at the center of Connie's life. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children, always offering support, encouragement, a bit of fun and unconditional love. Her positive attitude was a steady presence … even in difficult times, Connie chose hope, kindness, and perseverance.
Faith guided Connie's life. She sang alto and loved Southern gospel hymns. Lifting her voice in praise and worship. Her relationship with the Lord was deeply personal and profoundly important to her. If Connie could leave one wish for those she loved, it would this: that everyone would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, so that one day they could share in the hope of a Heavenly home and be reunited with her again.
Though her absence is deeply felt, Connie's legacy of faith, family, hard work, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her laughter, her love, and her unwavering trust in God's promises.
She is now at peace, rejoicing in Heaven, and waiting for the day we meet again.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
