Connie (nee Burkhardt) Burns, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 9,2025 at Fields of Florence in Florence, KY. She raised her family, with her loving husband, in Ft Thomas, Dayton and Melbourne, KY. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who found joy in hosting friends and family at her beloved river home. She enjoyed boating, playing cards and making great memories with all who loved her. She retired from the IRS in Covington, KY and from Jackson Hewitt in Sarasota, FL. While at IRS, she was on the special task force to implement e-filing service centers at the first ten US locations. She is credited with coming up with the term "significant other" on all tax forms.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Burns, son, Steve Burns, two brothers, Bernie and Chris Burkhardt, and grandson, Michael Burns. She is survived by her sister, Diana Broering, sister-in-law, Dianne (Gene) Zenni, sons, Tony (Kim) Burns and Danny (Angie) Burns, daughters, Laurie (Pat) Secaur, Jeanna (Kyle) Weaver, Judy Miller, and daughter-in-law, Mindy Burns. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, September 15 from 4-6 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 6 p.m., at St. Philip Church, Melbourne. Connie will be laid to rest at St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the Bluegrass Care Navigators, 51 Cavalier Blvd #200, Florence, KY 41042 or St. Philip Church, 1402 Mary Ingles Hwy, Melbourne, KY 41059. Online condolences can be given at dmefuneral.com. Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Homes are serving the family.
