Connie Sue Dilno, 82, of Climax, passed away, on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born on November 20, 1942, the daughter of Milbourne and Charlene Ladane (Cronk) Greenman, in Battle Creek, MI.
Connie was a dedicated educator and a beloved member of the Calco Quilter Group. She taught for over 30 years, primarily fourth grade at Harper Creek Community Schools, as well as Climax-Scotts and Battle Creek Community. In her classroom, she nurtured not only academic growth but also kindness and a lifelong love of learning. Connie went above and beyond for her students-inviting them over for homemade maple syrup and vanilla ice cream, hosting tea parties, and helping them bake coffee cakes to give as Christmas gifts for their families. Her deep care and commitment earned her the honor of being named Teacher of the Year.
A passionate and prolific quilter, Connie worked alongside her quilting friends to donate quilts to various causes. She was also an avid gardener who found joy in flowers and in giving freely of her time to help others. Her love for learning never faded, and she inspired those around her to keep growing and exploring throughout life.
Connie adored her grandchildren-they were the light of her life. She cherished time spent with family, especially at the cabin up north or browsing garage and estate sales. Her warmth, creativity, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Connie was adventurous at heart and a natural leader. Together with her husband Roger, they made the perfect team-whether it was remodeling their home, decorating every room for Christmas with her cherished Santa collection, or even trying out dog sledding. Connie had the ideas, and Roger brought them to life. Their home was a continuous project filled with love, creativity, and collaboration.
Connie wasn't one to sit still. She eagerly supported Roger when he coached a girl's softball team by bringing treats to the teams. Her energy and curiosity fueled countless adventures, from whale watching to maple syrup making, and traveling to watch the Chincoteague ponies cross the water. For the Dilno family, road trips were often taken along scenic back roads, turning even simple drives into exciting journeys.
Every experience, big or small, was embraced with Connie's full spirit. Her passion for life was matched only by her generosity and unwavering sense of purpose. As a devoted teacher, prolific quilter, devoted gardener, and loving family member, Connie left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
Connie is survived by her devoted Husband, Roger Lee Dilno, Children, Dineen Lewman, Dianna (Brad) Bartholomew, Sister Becky (Bill) Ryder, Grandchildren, Sean (Brittany) Lewman, and Smantha (Terry) Hauschildt; Grandchildren, Kevin, Sophia "Spicy", Kenneth, Alaska, Kaylea, Haylea, Jason, and too many nieces and nephews to count.
She was preceded in death by her Parents.

My condolences to the family. Mrs. Dilno was one of my favorite teachers! She taught me for 3rd and 4th grade at Sonoma elementary school. She was very impactful to me. She was creative and helped me love reading and writing. I totally remember the coffee cakes! She was so important to me that when I won an award my senior year of high school I was able to invite a teacher to the ceremony who made an impact on me and I chose Mrs Dilno. What an incredible woman. She will be missed. God bless you Mrs. Dilno!

Connie "Grandma"

The unfortunate event of having to say goodbye to someone that we hold dear. Those of us that where lucky enough to be a part of her life where in deed blessed.

I will miss the long conversations and rounds of phase 10. Seeing you taking as many opportunities as possible to spend with family. I am confident you´re Joy for life lives on through the many lives you have been a part of.

Thank you for the time I got to spend with you. I will forever cherish the memories you shared with us.
