Connie Marie Jefferson, 52, of Dallas, TX, departed this life peacefully on January 14, 2025.
Connie was born on March 14th, 1972, to Jurlean Jefferson and Tomie "Tommy" Edwards in
Rockford, IL until she moved to Dallas, TX in summer of 1986 at the age of 14, where she was
then raised by her paternal Grandmother Lenora Henderson. Connie met and fell in love with
Stephen Yeager, and from this relationship they had 3 children: LaMarkos Anwar Jefferson,
Stephen Bernard Jefferson and Brittney Lenora Yeager, Connie and Big Steve were together 25
years. Connie later met the love of her life, her life partner of 10 years Michael Wayne Thomas,
a truck driver, who spoiled her and tried to give and show her the world. Shortly after meeting
Michael she went over the road with him and they toured all 48 states in the 18-wheeler, which
was her greatest joy. Every chance she could get, she would take her then 3-year-old grandson
who she called her "baby" (AJ) in the truck with them. The 3 of them toured the US and often
visited her dad in southern Illinois, another place she was so excited to visit. As "AJ" got older,
she would take him with them during school breaks and summers. Later she introduced her next
grandson around the age of 3 "Markos" to the 18-wheeler, and she toured all 48 states with him
for a while as well.
Known for her captivating storytelling and infectious laughter, Connie never left anyone
guessing where they stood in her life. She spent countless hours on the phone, she called it the
"Party Line" with loved ones, sharing laughs and stories about her travels. Connie had a gift for
making people feel cared for, whether it was protecting her children and neighbors or sharing her
love of cooking by feeding anyone who came her way. Wherever she lived, a neighbor was
always getting a plate. If you spent more than a few days with her, she was known to fatten you
up with the cooking she would do because she loved to feed people. Connie often laughed at how
she was never able to fatten up her Michael, because she surely made every attempt to do just
that.
Connie worked various jobs but found her calling in caring for the disabled, treating them like
family and mourning deeply when they passed.
Connie is survived by her children: 2 sons LaMarkos (KeJuana), Stephen (Faron), 1 daughter
Brittney (Brian); Her greatest joy were her grandchildren, 3 granddaughters LaToria, LaVeah,
and Nyra Jefferson; 4 grandsons Andrew "AJ" Pugh Jr, LaMarkos and Stephon Jefferson, and
Kyrie Ruffin. 3 sisters April (Hosealee) Blakely, Shona and Ashley Jefferson. She leaves many
aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special cousin Larena Foster.
Connie was predeceased by 3 granddaughters, Aaliyah Hannon-Jefferson, LaMiyah Jefferson,
and LaZiyah Jefferson, tragically by her dad in 2018, her paternal grandmother who raised her
from a teenager, her sister LaShannon Edwards, her brother Martin "Debo" Jefferson, her
maternal grandparents Mary and Arthur Jefferson, her best friend Denise "Niecy" Dora, as well
as her mother.
Connie lived her life unapologetically and fiercely, loving deeply and protecting those she held
close. She will be remembered for her huge heart, her watchful and protective nature, and her
ability to make everyone feel welcome and cared for. Just like her daddy, her home was always
filled with laughter, food, and love, and her heart was always open. Her memory will live on in
the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her
spirit lives on through the many lives she touched and made laugh.
