Connie Margaret Williams Moss, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered Heaven's gates into her eternal home early Friday morning, July 4, 2025, at her residence in Stapleton.

Born on July 27, 1949, Connie was the eldest of four siblings and grew up in the Keysville-Matthews area. She attended grade school in Matthews before transferring to the Burke County School Systems. Although she left school early to marry and start her family, Connie exemplified a lifelong dedication to learning. She proudly obtained her GED and continued her education, earning her LPN degree in 1977.

Throughout her career, Connie dedicated herself to the health care industry, working in various organizations, including dialysis centers, home health, and hospice, with her last position being in case management. She served others with a nurturing spirit, motivated by her love for people and commitment to taking care of them. Connie’s thoughtful and generous nature made her not only a caregiver but also a beautiful example of unconditional love to her family and friends.

Connie's vibrant personality shone through every interaction. A true nurturer, she took joy in caring for those around her, embodying the ideals of love, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Known for her big heart, she deeply loved her Lord and Savior and was an active member of Stapleton Baptist Church, where her faith guided her every step.

In her leisure time, Connie found great pleasure in reading her Bible, reflecting her devout faith. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, "Perry Mason" and "CSI," and had a passion for exploring estate sales, yard sales, and flea markets. Her love for crossword puzzles provided her both challenge and enjoyment, while the spirit of Christmas held a special place in her heart, cherished for the warmth and joy it brought.

Connie is survived by her loving children, Debra Utley (Rodney), John "Buster" Cumbee, and Jackie Brooks. She also leaves behind an adoring legacy of grandchildren, including Mark Ellis (Amanda), Brittany Sanchez, Felicia Cumbee, Colton Utley, Heather Utley, William Utley, John Cumbee (Kiera), Lindsay Cumbee, Amber Cumbee, Jacob Cumbee, Marissa Cumbee, Ieisha Brown (Shaq), Cerouiaa Scottl, Patschan Rogers, and Marleah Blount. Connie was also blessed with twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Charles "Bubba" Williams (Lisa), Cherry Smith, and Sue Utley (Buddy), along with nieces, nephews, and a host of other extended family and friends, will dearly miss her presence.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Alvin Moss; her daughter, Dawn Whitaker; her great-grandson, Enrique Cumbee; and her parents, Virginia Hayes Williams and Charles "Kenny" Williams.

Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, July 10, 2025. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday morning, July 11, 2025, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Robert Atkinson, Joshua Mosley, and Tim Crosby officiating. Honored to serve as pallbearers include John Cumbee, Tavo Perez, Jesse Perkins, Victor Utley, Keith Williams and Ricky Williams. Connie will be interred in the Stapleton Memorial Gardens cemetery.

The family invites all who knew and loved Connie to join them in celebrating her extraordinary life and the everlasting love she shared. Connie Williams Moss will forever be remembered for her boundless compassion, unwavering faith, and the love she generously gave.
