Connie Faye Nelson, 83, passed away at her home in Northwood, Iowa on Monday, February 16, 2026. A funeral service will be held at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 2PM with visitation to be held for an hour prior to the service. Burial shall be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville. Pastor Matt Griggs will be officiating.
Connie was born on May 19, 1942 to Elmer and Edna Pedersen in Northwood, Iowa. She grew up in Myrtle, MN, and attended school in both Myrtle and Glenville. She worked as a cosmetologist for many years. She also worked as an Events Supervisor and Hostess for Greenery, Kahler, and Days Inn.
Connie was a deeply loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a strong faith and instilled that in her kids. She was always baking something, and the kids would often come back home after school to the smell of her baking. She was also a great cook.
She loved traveling with her close friend Roger. They went on a cruise to Alaska, shared a Summer home near Grand Rapids, and spent tons of time gambling in Vegas and Laughlin, visiting her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Mark, and could be found watching gameshows and her “stories”. She enjoyed flowers, birdwatching, and Christmas, even dressing up as Santa.
Connie is survived by her special friend Roger Lee; children Steven Nelson of Myrtle, Deborah (Mark) Hornberger of Phoenix, AZ, Scott Nelson of Glenville, Sheila Nelson of Myrtle; grandchildren John (Mindy) Hornberger, Joe (Erin) Hornberger, and Stephanie (Brandon) Servantez of Kasson, MN; great-grandchildren Isaac, Avery, Tannon, Taylor, Tavin, and Konnar; sister Clarice Dempewolf, and many nieces and nephews.
Connie is preceded by her parents Elmer Pedersen and Edna (Walt) Jirsa; brother Charles; nephew Bruce; her grandparents, and brothers-in-law Arthur Dempewolf and Neal Bergland.
