Connie L. Otter passed away on May 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. She enjoyed family and friends, keeping a small vegetable garden, making quilts, visiting lighthouses, and attending philharmonic performances. She was a lifelong learner, traveling with the Road Scholars group or reading histories. When home, she could often be found with a book or crossword puzzle and her cup of tea. Her favorite animals were cats, cardinals, and loons.
Connie grew up on a farm in south central Nebraska with her parents and her sister, Judy. She played volleyball and was active in music, singing in the choir and many small groups, including a popular barbershop quartet. After graduating and attending a summer school session at a junior college, Connie began teaching in rural schools until she met and married Paul Otter. The two enjoyed each other's company for 63 years. Together they had two children, Jill & Paul K. While her children were growing she was a stay-at-home Mom who was on the hospital auxiliary board, played bridge, and kept us all in line. In the late 1970's she took classes and became a real estate agent. In the mid 1980's, Connie attended college and obtained a degree as a medical records technician. She used this degree to work in nursing facilities in Boise, ID. and Milwaukee, WI. When Paul retired they returned to the Treasure Valley to be closer to their daughter and her family. Connie lived with Paul in an assisted living community and the last few months in nursing care.
Connie was preceded in death by their son, Paul K. She is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Jill (Mike) Boydstun, granddaughters Deborah (Travis) DeLaney, Koreen (A.J.) Walls, and great grandchildren Kyla, Xiao-Xing (Zizi), and Alistar DeLaney, and sister Judy (Gene) Dondlinger.
A small family service will be held. If you wish to pay your respects, please donate The American Diabetes Foundation, Breast Cancer Research, or to your favorite charity in honor or in memory of Connie. Additionally, the family would like to invite you to share any stories, memories, or photos of Connie that you may have.
