It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Connie Schwarting on July 23rd, 2025, at the age of 77, while living in Phoenix, AZ. She had been bravely battling multiple sclerosis for nearly 30 years.

Connie was born on March 26, 1948. Daughter of Eldon and Hazel Musfelt and beloved sister of James Musfelt, Diana Coats, and Beverly Pierce. She was the wife of the late Donald Schwarting, Connie was a very loving and devoted mother to 4 children, grandmother to 10 and great grandmother to 2. She was also the aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Connie was raised on a farm east of Gordon, Nebraska, and attended high school in Gordon as well. She met her husband as a young child while attending a small country school. After high school, she left the farm and attended beautician school in Rapid City, South Dakota. On November 1st, 1969, she married Donald Schwarting and to this marriage had four children, Nicole Tuma, Jared Schwarting, Jason Schwarting, Justin Schwarting. 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, and Payton (Nicole), Ryan, Dylan, and Kaitlyn (Jared), Tristan, Kobe, and Keenan (Jason), Harrison (Justin) and 2 great grandchildren Madaline and Miles (Tristan)

They spent their early years in Gordon, Nebraska and then moved to Rushville, Nebraska. Later in life, she went back to school to become a Registered Nurse and worked many years as a labor and delivery nurse at IHS hospital in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Her career was devastatingly cut short in 1999 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Connie had an incredible love for her family and Jesus. She was known for her kindness, gentle nature, and soft-spoken personality. Connie was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Although Connie is gone, she will live in our hearts forever, she filled our home with warmth and joy, and her kindness touched everyone who met her. She was a pillar of strength and a devoted mother whose love was a guiding light for us all. She will be sorely missed.
