Connie Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Statesboro on Jan. 13, 2026.
Statesboro, Georgia

Connie Jo Johnson Roberts Smith, 66, died peacefully on January 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 22, 1959, in Alexander, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Larry Johnson and Margaret Thompson.

Connie was a proud veteran of the United States Army and carried that strength, discipline, and loyalty throughout her life. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and was well loved and deeply respected within the motorcycle community. Her love of riding led her to visit many different places and form lifelong friendships along the way. Though she often carried a serious look that could make one think twice before approaching her, those who did were quickly welcomed with open arms. Connie was known for her generous heart, always willing to help anyone in need-even opening her home to those who needed a place to stay. She was also a talented pool player and adored spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joys of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sonny Smith, of Brooklet.

She is survived by her daughter, Rozan Smith, and her son, TJ Roberts; her grandchildren, Michael Smith, Jason Graham, and Hanna Hines; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Arvilla Norris, Lori (Norman) Busby, and Jeni (Larry) Kline, all of Statesboro; her nieces, Lynn Berry and Amber (Keith) Jackson; and her nephews, Danny Berry and Jason Berry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ABATE of Georgia, 5115 Ogeechee Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
