Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services - AnnandaleConrad A. Engen, age 97, of Glencoe, formerly of Watkins and New York Mills, died Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Glenfields Living in Glencoe.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Todd Nelsen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Annandale. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Conrad Arnold Engen was born to Conrad Sr. and Lillian (Severson) Engen on July 28, 1928, on his grandparents farm in Golden Lake Township in Steele County, North Dakota. He was baptized on August 19, 1928, and was confirmed in 1947 in Finley, North Dakota. He graduated from Finley High School in 1948. He served his country when he was drafted into the US Army on December 7, 1950, taking his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was then sent to Korea where he spent eleven months in combat. After his honorable discharge, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Throughout his life, he had various jobs, with his main occupation spent at Marquette Welding in Minneapolis for 23 years.
He married Vivian Kline in 1954 and they later divorced. On May 13, 1984, he married Elaine Gunderson at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale. Throughout their marriage they owned homes in Watkins, Ottertail, Sharon, ND, Perham, New York Mills and Lester Prairie.
His love of family was constantly and consistently shown by the manner by which he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed dancing, reading, hunting, fishing, and traveling to casinos.
He is survived by his children, Jeff Engen of Lester Prairie, Connie Stewart of Elk River, and Dave Gunderson of Litchfield; grandchildren, Kelly McKnight, Josh Fobbe, Tyler, Dustin, and Harrison Engen, and Leighton Buhr; great-grandsons, Ryan and Josh McKnight and Kaidan Fobbe; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Elaine and Vivian; stepdaughters, Linda Kettering and Dawn (David) Fobbe; stepson, Lester Engen; siblings, Norma Godfreys, Hazel Rue, and Charles and Kermit Engen.
Conrad's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
