Conrad Hoffmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, LLC - Toms River on Jan. 17, 2024.
CONRAD A. HOFFMANN, "Connie" 84, of Toms River, NJ, entered into his eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on January 15, 2024. Born in Montclair, NJ Conrad then resided in Cedar Grove, prior to settling in Toms River in 1987.
Conrad was a loving husband, Dad, Pop, brother, uncle, Comrade and friend to many. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era as an 82nd and 101st Airborne Paratrooper in addition to serving as a combat medic for the First Air Calvary unit. After military service, he joined the Plumbers Local Union No. 24 where he completed his apprenticeship, becoming a plumber and rising to the elected position of business agent, retiring in 1996. He also served on the board of trustees, delegate of Union County Building Trades, the New Jersey State Pipe Trades and United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. For many years, Conrad was also known as the organizer of blood drives through the Plumbers Local 24.
Conrad was known as "Mr. V.F.W.", an organization he held near and dear to his heart. He was a voice for the homeless veterans, reminding everyone that "no veteran (is to be) left behind". Conrad was a Gold Legacy Life Member of V.F.W. Post 6063, where he served in all positions, holding the position of Post Commander for many years and also as a Past New Jersey State Commander. Conrad was also a member of American Legion #29.
Conrad was always found serving others. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He was a boy scout leader, baseball coach, little league manager, the known chauffeur and was always the loudest voice on the sidelines in support of his kids and grandkids. He loved being everyone's "Pop".
Conrad is survived by his wife, Patricia of 48 years. Five children; Conrad Jr., Deborah, Phillip, Dawn (Richard) and Eric (Amy); Grandchildren; Ashley (Michael), Samuel, Kyle and Corey. Great-granddaughters; Ava and Parker; Siblings; Dennis Stewart (Margie), Marian Welzmueller, Diane Pastena (James), Cathy Baatz (Joseph), Marie Hiis (Douglas), John Hoffmann (Sherrie), Lisa Hoffmann and sister-in-law, Janice Arthur (Gary). Conrad also had many beloved nieces and nephews as well as other extended family that he considered his own. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Hoffmann, Elizabeth Mertz, Alice Hoffmann; brother-in-law, Michael Kudlick, sister-in-law, Sally Pantiel and brother-in-law, Martin Welzmueller, Sr.
John 11:25-26. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and supportive staff at Concord Rehabilitation and staff of Serenity Hospice for all their compassion and care during Conrad's stay.

Met Conrad when he started dating Pat.
Pat and I have been friends since High School. Because of distance living in various states have not seen Pat or Conrad in many years. Have fond memories of them both. My thoughts and prayers to Patricia and both families and friends. Love you both.
