Conrad Lips Obituary
He was born July 24, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois a son to the late Conrad & Carolyn (Mulac) Lips.
Connie had resided in Sturgis since 1951 coming from Chicago, Illinois.
On July 16, 1949 he married Virginia Hanichen in Vicksburg.
The printing business was more than a job to Connie it was a love and passion. When he came to Sturgis he began his local printing career with the Bruebaker Printing Company where he worked until 1963 when he founded Litho Printers in Sturgis and operated the business until 1995.
Connie was very proud to have served his country during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard several ships including the famous USS Ingham earning the rank of Boatswain Mate. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, B.P.O Elks #1381, Sturgis Exchange Club and Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion. Connie enjoyed playing golf, tennis and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia, 1 Daughter, Caryl Susan Fittro of Sturgis, 6 Grandchildren, Maria (Brent) Lawniczak of Jacksonville, NC, Christian (Becky) Fittro of Middlebury, IN, Joshua Fittro of Sturgis, Samuel Fittro of Sturgis, Meghan Fittro of Asheville, NC and Hannah (Matt) Lehman of Sturgis, 6 Great Grandchildren, Justin, Chelsea, Ryan and Emily Lawniczak and Blake and Taylor Fittro and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at the *HACKMAN-Foglesong Funeral Home* of Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Conrad “Connie” Lips will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Rodger Moyer of the Sturgis Evangelical Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Lips memory consider the American Cancer Society.

My father was John Williams. My father always regarded Connie as one of his best friends. Indeed, I would say that Connie was my father's best friend. They shared a love of printing and nothing delighted my father more than discussing printing with Connie. My father loved working side-by-side with Connie. Dad respected Connie's opinion in all things and quoted him frequently. For my part, I also repected Connie's courteous manner. He was a gentleman in every way that is important.
