In Loving Memory of Constance Ann Bond

We announce the passing of Connie Bond, who left us on January 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Connie was a beloved wife, mother and dear friend to many.

Born on November 9, 1937, in Mattoon, Illinois, Connie was the cherished child of Robert and Edith Comer. She grew up in a loving household, surrounded by family and friends who would forever shape the course of her life. From a young age, Connie demonstrated a remarkable ability to discern the Spirit. She loved going to Sunday School to learn about Jesus Christ. With this gift she was able to accept the Gospel when two missionaries, from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, came to her family’s door. One of the missionaries was Elder Bond. Through a letter they agreed to meet in Provo, Utah once he was released from his mission.

Connie attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she was studying Nursing. She met Donald Bond at the train station, where they shook hands and addressed themselves as Elder Bond and Sister Comer. They courted and decided to marry in March of 1956. The two of them took a bus down to Salt Lake City from Provo to marry in the Salt Lake Temple. Their reception consisted of them eating sandwiches and drinking Sprite at a local drug store.

Connie loved being a wife and mother. She would put her family’s needs before her own. She felt her most valuable accomplishment was raising her seven children. She held dear the love of a wonderful husband, Don, who took care of her and their family. She kept the home running smoothly. She always had breakfast for the family in the morning, lunch packed and dinner in the evening. She knew how to make the dollar stretch by searching for sales at each grocery store in town. She lived the scripture that states “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer…, a house of faith, a house of learning…, a house of order, a house of God” (D&C 88:119).

After most of her children were raised, she joined the Tabernacle Choir in 1980. She was set apart as a missionary. She loved traveling with the choir to share the gospel through music. She found joy in being a living witness that God lives, and His Son is the Savior of the world. She loved testifying of the divine mission of the prophet Joseph Smith in restoring the gospel to the earth. She felt blessed that she had the honor to testify of these things for the 18 years she was in the Choir.

Connie is survived by her children, Stephen Bond, Susan (Greg) Parker, Theresa Bond, Mark (Brandi) Bond and David (Jennifer) Bond and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie also leaves behind her loving brother, Robert (Judy) Comer Jr., who will forever hold the memory of Connie close to their hearts.

Connie was proceeded in death by her loving husband Donald Bond, her children, Kevin Bond, Kris Bond, Kathy Anglesey, parents, Robert and Edith Comer Sr., and her nephew Robert Comer III.

Friends may visit with family Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E.
