Connie Burke entered into rest with her family by her side on November 21st. Born on July 30, 1943 to Robert Wheat and Margaret Wheat, nee McDevitt, in Queens as one of five brothers and sisters. She worked a myriad of jobs, for the original New York Telephone company, to various jobs in retail, and eventually finding her place at Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Middletown, New York, retiring in 2011. During her work life, she also found the time to meet, fall in love and marry the love of her life, Robert Burke, and had four children.

She was a loving woman who would often be found knitting or crocheting while watching the BBC channel or Classic movies. When those hobbies were not keeping her occupied, her devout beliefs would give her cause to be found working at the Church of Saint Mary and Saint Andrew in Ellenville, New York. At various churches throughout her life, she taught and eventually coordinated Sunday School classes for her parishes. Children held a special place in her heart, from both the standpoints of education and love. She would always have a smile, some candy, or a special story that related to each child she worked or played with. In her later years, she took great pride in her grandchildren and the newest editions to her life, her great-grandchildren.

Connie is predeceased by her parents, her sister Barbara, her husband Robert, and her daughter Margaret. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law Scott and Lisa Burke, of Bloomington, Wayne and Nichole of Saugerties, and Michael and Tara of Grahamsville, her grandchildren Amelia, Justin, Shelbi, and Shyann, and her great grand children Korah and Wyatt, as well as all the children of the Sunday school programs that she taught.

Wake service will be at Loucks Funeral home, 79 Main St, Ellenville, NY from 6 pm to 8 pm on December 2nd, 2024

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Mary and Saint Andrew on December 3rd, 2024 at 10 am, with internment to follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
