Constance Crouse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carrier Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Windham on Mar. 30, 2026.
Constance "Bette" Crouse, 92, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Haverhill, MA, with loving family by her side.

She was born on December 1, 1933, to George and Marie (Theriault) Richardson, in Lawrence, MA. Bette was raised in Reading, MA, graduating from Reading High School, class of 1952. Bette worked many years as a receptionist for Parsons Brinkerhoff, assisting with the Boston Central Artery Tunnel Project. Bette treated everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of differences. Upon retirement she received a Proclamation by Governor Cellucci stating: Bette Crouse set a professional standard for everyone on the central artery project, exuding tremendous dedication and kindness toward her colleagues.

She had a warm and gentle smile that embraced everyone that knew her. Bette had a passion for her family. They were first and foremost in her life. Her second love was walking with her beloved dogs and spending time with friends.

Bette always had a positive attitude, viewing challenges as learning opportunities and maintaining hope regardless of circumstances. When we were asked, What's the most important thing your mom has ever taught you? The reply was: "She taught us about forgiveness." She was the glue that held the family together. She travelled to many places around the world, most notably, Italy, France, Medjugorje, Thailand, Bali, Turkey, Switzerland, and many cruises through the Caribbean. Bette participated in many religious pilgrimages on her travels.

One of her favorite expressions was: "I'd never say no to a game." She liked all games, card games, board games, especially Scrabble. Ballroom dancing, music and reading were her other interests. Above all else, she will be remembered as a sweet person, who enjoyed bringing joy to those around her.

Bette is survived by her children, Wendy Crouse of Nashua, NH, Janice Ramsey and her husband Ray of Plaistow, NH, Walter Crouse and his wife Kelly of Exeter, NH, George Crouse III and his wife Robin of Manchester, NH, and Robert Crouse and his wife Cathi of Beverly, MA; her grandchildren Darius Masalehdan and his wife Melinda, Trevor Ramsey, Caleb Crouse and Brian O'Donnell; her brother Walter Andrews and his wife Terry; and many friends.

She is predeceased by her granddaughter Stacia Foster.

Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass at Saint Athanasius Parish, 300 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA, at 10:30AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Interment will follow at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bette's memory, to Beacon Hospice, Lawrence, MA.
